Theta Delta Chi
Recruitment Chair, September 2017 - September 2018
House Manager, September 2016 - September 2017; February 2015 - November 2015
Theta Delta Chi was my home at MIT for most of my undergraduate career. It was both a safe space for people that were very much like me (for the most part low-income Hispanic men) and a gateway to know others with wildly different personalities than mine (DJ's, riflemen and anime nerds). I served in a number of leadership positions within the house, of which the two most important ones were the following:
I worked with a budget of around $22k to organize, lead and execute a series of events during the fraternity recruitment week. This included paintball, jet skiing, Escape the Room, a makerspace event, a foam party and a car smash event.
I was House Manager for two terms, and my responsibilities during the semester were to ensure that the house stayed clean and livable. It was my duty to assign cleanup tasks, work with contractors and fix appliances. For a week at the beginning of the semester, we worked to do major renovations such as re-purposing rooms or painting walls. During my second term, we spent much of it adding close to a dozen new murals to the house. The largest mural in the house is pictured above as it was being drawn.
